Why be concerned about your home security while on your next vacation Atlanta?
Don’t allow a burglar to ruin your vacation.
You’ve worked hard and have earned a well deserved vacation away from home.
How long will you be gone for? A long weekend?
One week? Two weeks perhaps?
What Are Some Practical Things We Can Do to Secure Our Atlanta Home When We Are Away On Vacation Or Perhaps On Business besides hiring your own private security guard?
It is essential to give our home the “lived in ” look.
That’s right…you may not be at home…but why should we advertise it to everyone?
1) Tell a neighbor to keep their eyes open. That’s what we do in our neighborhood. It builds trust & a helpful spirit amongst neighbors.
2) Light up the neighborhood. A dark house signals that nobody is home. So what can do to combat this?
3) Install exterior lights that contain a photocell. Photocells turn on the outdoor lights automatically when it gets dark. Remember, thieves do not like a well lit backyard.
4) Install Motion sensors. Motion sensors turn on exterior light fixtures when ever something passes thru its protective invisible field. They give the impression that someone turned on the lights from the inside.
5) Pick up a couple of cheap 24 hr timers. These affordable timers run about $8-$10 each. I would plug lamps in them & set them to each go on & off at various times during the evening.
6) Can you imagine being able to turn your lights on and off while hundreds of miles away? That right it can be done over the internet with a computer. Be sure to ask me about our home automation technology.
7) Have a friend or neighbor pick up your mail while your gone. You can even ask the post office to hold it until you return. Nothing says “I am not home” like a mail box full of mail, or even worse…
A Driveway full of wet news papers. Ask a neighbor to be sure to pick these up…or suspend delivery until you return. Don’t let them pile up!
9) Keep them guessing by keeping a car or truck parked in your driveway!
10) Keep a radio or TV on so it can be heard outside. Leave it on a radio talk show so it sounds like there are people talking inside. These can also be put on a cheap timer to come on and off thru out the evening
